In the face of natural disasters and unexpected connectivity challenges, AT&T is taking proactive measures to enhance communication solutions for its enterprise customers. The company is introducing a new portable cellular network option designed to maintain connectivity when traditional cell towers are compromised. This innovative approach underscores AT&T’s commitment to providing reliable service and supporting businesses during critical times.
AT&T is leveraging technology from Rescue 42, a well-known provider of specialized rescue equipment, to offer its enterprise customers access to Compact Rapid Deployable (CRD) units. According to a recent report, these portable cell-tower solutions will enable businesses to maintain operational continuity even when their regular network is disrupted.
“The CRD for enterprises is similar to our FirstNet version, though it operates on a different frequency,” said Tim O'Connell, CEO of Rescue 42. “It may resemble a FirstNet CRD, but instead of featuring 'FirstNet' branding, it proudly displays the AT&T blue logo.”
The FirstNet CRD operates within the 700 MHz Band 14 spectrum, specifically allocated for public safety. In contrast, AT&T's enterprise CRD will function on the carrier's commercial Band 2 spectrum, ensuring that business customers have access to sufficient network resources during crises.
As the demand for reliable connectivity solutions grows, AT&T's CRD units are already attracting interest from businesses looking for dependable communication options. This move not only reinforces AT&T's position in the competitive telecommunications market but also ensures that its clients remain connected, particularly in challenging circumstances.
