Apple Set to Unveil Groundbreaking Redesign of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS

Apple is gearing up for a significant transformation in its iOS, iPadOS, and macOS operating systems. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this upcoming overhaul may be one of the most extensive software redesigns in Apple's history, with iOS 19, iPadOS 19 (codenamed "Luck"), and macOS 16 (codenamed "Cheer") in the pipeline. These new systems are expected to be highlighted at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, followed by their official release in the Fall as per the company's usual schedule.

The focus of this redesign is to create a more cohesive user experience, aiming for a unified appearance across all devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers. Reports suggest that the new operating systems will draw design inspiration from the Apple Vision Pro's visionOS.

Gurman indicates that we can anticipate sweeping changes across icons, menus, core applications, window layouts, and the overall system UI in all three operating systems. Notably, iOS 19 is expected to represent the most significant update for Apple's mobile operating system since the launch of iOS 7 in 2013, while macOS 16 will mark the largest evolution for Mac computers since 2020’s Big Sur.
