Samsung Assures Durability of the Galaxy S25 Edge Despite Its Sleek Design

As anticipation builds for the highly awaited Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung is addressing concerns regarding the device’s thin profile and potential fragility. Scheduled for a full unveiling next month, the Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored to have an impressive thickness of just 5.84mm, leading many to question whether this sleek design compromises durability.

In a recent interview with TechRadar, Annika Bizon, Samsung's Mobile Experience (MX) VP of Product and Marketing in the UK, reassured tech enthusiasts that durability remains a priority, despite the phone’s slim form factor. Though she refrained from providing detailed specifications, her comments hinted at innovative features designed to enhance the phone's resilience.

Here’s what she had to say:

"I can’t say too much, but what I will say is that [the Edge] is about beautiful form factor. And there are two points I want to make. One is that it’s absolutely stunning. And if you think about the technology that’s going into that size of space, it’s pretty impressive. The second thing I’ll say concerns durability. With anything slim, durability [has to come as part of the package]. Those are the two features [of the Edge] that are exciting [for us]. Well, I know durability isn't exciting – but it’s really important. So watch this space, because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone."

Bizon’s statement suggests that Samsung is likely bringing new advancements in durability to the Galaxy S25 Edge, especially as rumors circulate about a possible ceramic back. Ceramic, known for being tougher than glass, might work in harmony with a metallic frame to ensure the device withstands standard durability tests, as demonstrated by tech reviewer Zack at JerryRigEverything.

The decision to hold back hands-on access to the Galaxy S25 Edge before its official launch could indicate that Samsung is keen on keeping the material difference—ceramic versus glass—under wraps to maintain an element of surprise for consumers and reviewers.
