Apple Unveils Revamped MacBook Air Featuring M4 Chip and Reduced Pricing

Source: Date:

In a significant update to its popular MacBook Air lineup, Apple has introduced the latest models equipped with the powerful M4 chip, a fresh color option, and enhanced camera capabilities, all while lowering the starting price.

New MacBook Air

The new MacBook Air now features Apple's cutting-edge M4 chip, unveiled last year for the iMac and Mac mini. This advanced chip boasts a 10-core CPU and either 8 or 10 GPU cores, depending on configuration. Apple claims the M4 delivers impressive performance improvements: 1.6 times faster in Excel, doubled speeds in iMovie, and twice as fast in Adobe Photoshop compared to the previous M1 models.

Details on the 10-core GPU version of this chip are available in our Mac mini M4 review.

Additionally, the M4 chip enhances external display capabilities, supporting up to two 6K displays at 60Hz, a significant upgrade from the single external display support of the prior generation.

Sky Blue MacBook Air

Another exciting change is the introduction of a new color option named Sky Blue. This striking metallic light blue color boasts a dynamic gradient effect when light reflects off its surface, adding to the aesthetic appeal alongside the existing Midnight, Starlight, and Silver options.

Moreover, the 2025 MacBook Air series upgrades the front camera to a 12MP Center Stage camera, identical to that found in the MacBook Pro models. This camera captures higher resolution images while maintaining 1080p video capabilities, thanks to advanced features like the Center Stage and Desk View. The Center Stage mode keeps subjects in view even when they move around, while Desk View showcases a corrected perspective of the user’s workspace.

Upgraded Camera

While these enhancements elevate the MacBook Air, the design, dimensions, display, keyboard, trackpad, memory, storage options, as well as speaker and microphone configurations remain unchanged. Noteworthy is the slightly larger battery, increasing from 52.6Wh to 53.8Wh, though the overall battery life remains the same.

The new MacBook Air with M4 chip comes in both 13-inch and 15-inch variants, with prices starting at a reduced $999 for the 13-inch model and $1199 for the 15-inch edition.
