Apple has unveiled new iPads, surprising many fans with the announcement of the iPad Air featuring the M3 chip and a revamped entry-level iPad. While the new entry-level model may not bring about the most drastic upgrades, a significant change in its storage configuration signifies a notable transition for Apple.
The era of the 64GB entry-level iPad has come to an end. Users can now rejoice in the fact that the new entry-level iPad begins with a generous 128GB of storage space, alleviating the frustration of running out of space on a relatively new device.

iPad 11-inch (A16): Pre-order at Amazon

The 11th Gen iPad has finally arrived! You can now pre-order the 11-inch tablet equipped with 128GB of storage and an A16 chip at Amazon. Available starting March 12.
The previous model, the iPad 10, had been Apple's sole tablet with the once common 64GB storage option still on sale. Likewise, the iPhone SE 3 was the last phone to feature this outdated storage configuration. However, both devices have now been pushed aside, as Apple announces that the iPhone 16e starts at 128GB of storage, aligning with the newly-launched iPad 11 that also features this standard. This transition has effectively retired the iPhone SE 3 and iPad 10 from Apple's store.

Thus marks the end of an era. The first iPhone models to include 64GB of base storage were the now-classic iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the groundbreaking iPhone X released back in 2017. That same year, Apple also launched its first iPads with similar storage options.
