At the kick-off of MWC 2025, HMD Global has introduced an exciting new smartphone specifically tailored for teens, the Fusion X1. This device stands out with its pre-installed Xplora parental control platform, designed to promote safe and responsible smartphone use among younger audiences.
The Xplora platform, typically available through a paid subscription, enhances the Fusion X1's functionality by offering alerts for various events, location tracking, controlled contact lists, app approvals, and remote management of screen time. However, details on the duration of the free subscription have yet to be confirmed.
Key Features of the HMD Fusion X1
Weighing in at 202 grams and primarily constructed of plastic, the Fusion X1 is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, with options for either 6GB RAM with 128GB storage or 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. Additionally, users can expand storage through a hybrid SIM/microSD slot. The device showcases a 6.56-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The display's brightness can reach up to 600 nits in boost mode.

Battery life is supported by a robust 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging capability. The device includes a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC functionality, and a powerful camera setup featuring a 108MP main sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor on the back, while a 50MP front camera caters to selfies. Operating on Android 14, the phone guarantees two major OS updates and three years of security patches.
Additionally, the Fusion X1 is compatible with HMD's Fusion accessory platform, featuring six smart pins on the back that allow for the attachment of various accessories, including a gaming controller or a ring light.
Special Edition: HMD Barca Fusion
Alongside the standard Fusion X1, HMD has unveiled the Barca Fusion, a special edition celebrating FC Barcelona. This version maintains the same specifications and design but adds unique features.
