Tecno has just unveiled the Spark Slim, a bold new concept that could disrupt the thin smartphone race dominated by giants like Apple and Samsung. While Apple's iPhone 17 Air and Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge are generating buzz ahead of their expected launches, it's this lesser-known brand's innovative design that has caught the spotlight. The Spark Slim boasts an astonishing thickness of just 5.75 mm, yet it houses a robust 5,200 mAh battery and dual 50 MP cameras.

There is, however, a caveat: the Spark Slim is currently just a concept device. No launch date has been confirmed, and while potential buyers can see demo units displayed at MWC, the reality is that this ambitious phone may not transition to a finalized, sellable product, reminiscent of the fate of Tecno's previous ultra-thin tri-fold concept from last year.
This phone features a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED display with curved edges, delivering a sharp 1224p resolution and a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate. Brightness is also impressive, peaking at 4,500 nits, and selfies can be taken easily with a 13 MP front camera. The battery, which is only 4.04 mm thick, supports rapid 45W charging. Despite the camera bump, the phone maintains a surprisingly compact design.

With a thickness of only 5.75 mm, the Spark Slim represents an impressive engineering feat, especially when compared to the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, which is rumored to measure around 6 mm with a smaller 4,000 mAh battery. While the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be around 5.5 mm thick, it's unlikely to match the Spark Slim's battery capacity. So, how did Tecno achieve such a feat?
The secret lies in advancements in battery technology, particularly through the use of silicon-carbon batteries. This cutting-edge technology allows for a greater energy density in a more compact design, similar to what was used in the OnePlus 13, which successfully integrated a 6,000 mAh battery without compromising its sleek profile.
