AMD Unveils Pricing and Release Details for RX 9070 and 9070 XT Graphics Cards

Source: Date:

AMD has officially revealed the pricing and release information for its highly anticipated Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards. The RX 9070 will retail for $549, while the RX 9070 XT is priced at $599, both set to hit the market on March 6.

These new cards boast impressive specifications, with the RX 9070 featuring 56 compute units, a 2.1GHz game clock, a boost clock up to 2.5GHz, and a power target of 220W. In contrast, the RX 9070 XT comes equipped with 64 compute units, a 2.4GHz game clock, a boost clock that can reach up to 3.0GHz, and a power limit of 304W.

Both models offer 16GB of memory, a 256-bit memory interface, and 64MB of Infinity Cache, while also supporting the latest DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b connectivity options. It's worth noting that AMD has opted to maintain the traditional 8-pin power connectors for these cards.

Benchmark results from AMD illustrate the RX 9070's impressive performance, showing it to be 21% faster than the RX 7900 GRE at 4K resolution across a variety of games, particularly excelling in ray tracing scenarios thanks to enhancements from RDNA 4 architecture. The RX 9070 XT takes the lead with an impressive 42% performance boost compared to the RX 7900 GRE and is positioned as a strong competitor against Nvidia's $750 RTX 5070 Ti, trailing by just 2% in average benchmarks.

On the software front, AMD introduced FSR 4, its next-generation super resolution and frame generation technology. Optimized for the new ML capabilities of the RDNA 4 GPUs, FSR 4 promises significantly improved image quality over earlier iterations. At launch, it will be integrated into over 30 games, with plans to expand to over 75 titles by the end of 2025.

The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT were initially previewed in January during a CES 2025 keynote, giving audiences a glimpse of what was to come as AMD awaited Nvidia's product launches.

These new graphics cards will be available exclusively through AMD's board partners, which include Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX, and Yeston. Retailers have been stocking these GPUs for some time, ensuring good availability upon release.
