In a refreshing move for consumers, Max has decided to scrap its controversial plan to impose an additional charge on sports and news content. Warner Bros. Discovery recently revealed that instead of introducing a $10 monthly fee, the platform will simply remove sports and news content from its ad-supported tier starting next month, a change that many users are likely to find reasonable.
Over the past year, we’ve closely monitored how our users interact with sports and news on Max, while also exploring innovative approaches to evolve the sports distribution landscape in the U.S. At present, we believe the best approach is to incorporate this content within our Standard and Premium tiers, ensuring that our subscribers continue to have access to valuable programming, while simultaneously allowing us to invest further in our premium sports and news offerings.

Initially, Max promised that its Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On would be free until February 2024, after which a $10 fee would be implemented. As the deadline approached, subscribers were left in suspense with no changes occurring, raising concerns about the fee's future. Last September, rumors suggested that the additional charge might still arrive at any moment.
