A Closer Look at the OnePlus Watch 3: Features and Review Insights

Source: Date:

The highly anticipated OnePlus Watch 3 has finally made its way into our hands for review! Launched just a few days ago, this impressive smartwatch was initially scheduled to begin shipping right away, but a minor production issue—namely, the misspelled phrase 'Meda in China' found on the watch's underside—has pushed back the release date to April.

Fortunately, our review unit has arrived without delay, so we are excited to share this initial overview of the device!

The OnePlus Watch 3 comes packaged with a proprietary magnetic charger and a few informational leaflets. The charging setup consists of a convenient two-piece solution: a USB cable paired with a magnetic charging head—a thoughtful touch!

Maintaining the unique design language of its predecessor, the OnePlus Watch 3 incorporates significant upgrades. A key enhancement is the rotating crown, which now interacts with the interface rather than serving as a decorative feature. This addition promises to enhance the overall user experience.

Built from durable stainless steel, the watch retains its IP68 rating, ensuring protection against dust and water, as well as MIL-STD-810H compliance, allowing it to endure extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C. The watch is also capable of withstanding depths of up to 50 meters underwater.

The bezel has been upgraded to titanium, seamlessly integrated with the sapphire crystal covering, which rates just above 8 on the Mohs hardness scale—making it resistant to scratches.

Powered by a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor and running on Wear OS, the OnePlus Watch 3 is equipped with a 648 mAh battery. Users can expect up to 5 days of normal usage or 3 days of heavy usage with Wear OS.

However, the true highlight of the Watch 3 lies in its dual-OS capability. Thanks to a custom BES 2800 co-processor, it can switch to its proprietary operating system, extending the device's battery life to an impressive 16 days.

With a price tag of $329/€349/£319, the OnePlus Watch 3 is set to ship in April, making it a worthy contender in the smartwatch market.
