An agreement has been reached between Apple and the Indonesian government, lifting the previously imposed ban on the iPhone 16 series. After a protracted five-month dispute, Apple has pledged to invest $1 billion in the country to comply with local regulations. The Ministry of Industry is slated to finalize a memorandum of agreement with Apple within the week, allowing for the official sale of the iPhone 16 as soon as permits are issued. The ban was initially in place due to the iPhone 16 failing to meet the requirement that 40% of its components be locally sourced. In the meantime, a small number of iPhone 16 units entered the country through personal luggage and diplomatic channels, as reported by the Centralized Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system.
