Aside from their competitive pricing, OnePlus and Oppo phones have been known for their signature three-way ring switch that allows users to easily switch between silent, vibrate, and ring modes without looking. However, recent rumors suggest that these brands are planning to replace the ring switch with a new iPhone-inspired action button on future devices.
According to leaks from tech insider Digital Chat Station, the upcoming OnePlus 13 and other Oppo phones may feature a customizable action button on the upper-left side of the frame, offering a range of functionalities such as muting notifications, turning on/off the flashlight, taking screenshots, capturing photos, and launching apps with a single press.
This new hardware key, dubbed the "Rubik's Cube Key" or "Magic Cube Key," is expected to provide more versatility than the iPhone's Action Button, potentially supporting double and triple-press actions. While some users may miss the beloved ring switch, this evolution in design aligns with the brands' trend of incorporating iOS features into their devices.
