MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 6400 Chipset with Incremental Upgrades

Source: Date:

MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 6400 chipset, which offers a slight improvement over its predecessor, the Dimensity 6300. The new chipset features an octa-core CPU with 2x Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, along with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Designed for LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, the Dimensity 6400 supports displays up to 1080p+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, and cameras up to 108MP. The chipset also includes a 5G Release 16 modem with a peak downlink speed of 3.3Gbps, as well as support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Compared to the Dimensity 6300, the Dimensity 6400 offers a slight performance boost with a 0.1GHz overclock on the A76 cores. While the design may be considered dated, as it resembles the Dimensity 810 chipset from 2021, the Dimensity 6400 is set to power upcoming devices like the Realme P3x 5G. Stay tuned for more updates on the capabilities of this new chipset.
