Apple Faces Setback in Launching Enhanced Siri AI Feature

Source: Date:

Apple's plan to introduce a revamped Siri AI feature has hit a roadblock, causing a delay in its launch, according to Mark Gurman's recent report for Bloomberg. The company is encountering technical challenges with the upgrade, leading to inconsistent performance of the smart capabilities.

The anticipated update, initially set for release in April alongside iOS 18.4, is now anticipated to be postponed until May, coinciding with the rollout of iOS 18.5.

Gurman highlighted that the Siri overhaul plays a pivotal role in Apple's Intelligence platform. However, the phased release has not yet reached key markets such as Continental Europe and China.

This setback comes as Apple seeks to compete with AI offerings from OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Meta's Llama. Internal struggles with meeting deadlines may lead to postponement of certain iOS 19 features to 2026, potentially affecting future updates.

The Apple Intelligence initiative aims to enable Siri to leverage user data for enhanced responses, control apps more precisely, and comprehend on-screen activities better.
