Google has addressed a common issue faced by users of foldable phones with magnetic cases, particularly on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The problem arises when the magnetic case interferes with the sensor that measures the hinge angle, impacting the device's functionality.

Recently, with the launch of Android 16 Beta 2, Google has introduced a solution through the Pixel System Services app. A new setting called "robust open/close detection" has been added specifically for users who utilize a magnetic case. By enabling this setting, the interference between the sensor and the magnets on the case is eliminated, allowing for seamless transition between folded and unfolded states.
It is important to note that Google advises keeping the option turned off when not using a case to prevent faster battery drain. As of now, it remains uncertain if this fix will be extended to other Android foldable devices or if manufacturers will need to develop their own solutions.
