The race for advanced on-device AI capabilities is heating up, with numerous tech companies vying for supremacy. Among the emerging players is DeepSeek, which is quickly attracting attention from smartphone manufacturers eager to elevate their devices' smart assistant functionalities.

In a recent development, Honor has announced the integration of DeepSeek's cutting-edge AI directly into its YOYO smart assistant in the Chinese market. This follows Huawei's decision to incorporate DeepSeek into its cloud services, while Oppo is also set to feature this innovative technology in its upcoming Find N5 model.

Beginning now, users of Honor smartphones running MagicOS 8.0 or later can upgrade their YOYO assistant to utilize the advanced DeepSeek-R1 model. To activate this feature, users simply need to have YOYO version 80.0.1.503 or higher, wake the assistant, swipe up from the smartphone's bottom to access the "AI agent" section, and select DeepSeek-R1.

According to Honor, the integration of DeepSeek will significantly enhance YOYO's capabilities, offering features that include deep thinking, intelligent interactions, and personalized services tailored to user preferences.
