In a major breakthrough for telecommunications, Helium Mobile has unveiled the first-ever free 5G wireless plan in the United States, marking a significant shift towards more affordable connectivity for consumers. The innovative Zero Plan provides users with 3GB of data, 300 texts, and 100 minutes of calls each month—all at no cost. Helium emphasizes that their service comes with "no contracts, hidden fees, or gimmicks," enabling individuals rather than corporations to control the network, which helps facilitate this unprecedented pricing model.
As part of its efforts to reward user engagement, Helium Mobile introduces the Cloud Points program, wherein users can contribute anonymized data and earn points through activities like location sharing and referrals. These points can be redeemed for gift cards to popular brands across various sectors, including rideshare services, shopping, food delivery, and entertainment.
Prominent partners in the Cloud Store include:
Travel - Uber, Lyft, Airbnb
Shopping - Nike, Amazon, Lego
Food and Drink - DoorDash, Instacart, Starbucks
Entertainment - Apple, Netflix, Spotify
The option to donate and soon convert Cloud Points into Helium-branded merchandise will also be available, making the platform even more enticing for users.
“Connectivity is an essential part of life—whether it’s for staying in touch with loved ones, accessing education, or building businesses. But for far too long, the telco industry has treated it like a luxury, not a right,” said Coco Tang, General Manager of Helium Mobile Subscribers. “This is more than just a free phone plan; it’s a movement to make wireless service accessible, affordable, and rewarding for everyone. Our mission is simple: empower people, not corporations.”
Helium Mobile offers three distinct plans, including the free Zero Plan:
- Zero Plan ($0/month): 3GB of data, 300 texts, 100 minutes
- Air Plan ($15/month): 10GB of data with unlimited talk and text
- Infinity Plan ($30/month): Unlimited data, talk, and text
Consumers can bring their own devices, allowing for a smoother transition while retaining their current phone numbers. With Concierge Service, Helium supports users in switching from their previous wireless providers seamlessly, ensuring minimal disruption.
Currently, the Zero Plan is by invitation only. Interested users in the U.S. can either be referred by someone or join a waitlist for access. The Helium network, combined with the nation's largest 5G infrastructure, promises reliable connectivity for daily communication and leisure activities—traits that could soon become vital as new legislation considers banning phone usage in some school settings.
If users demand more than what's offered in the Zero Plan, Helium Mobile also provides two additional plans, including an unlimited option at just $30 per month.
