Google's anticipated Pixel 9a smartphone is making waves, not only because of its rumored specifications but also due to the unveiling of its official cases. Recent leaks have surfaced, showcasing these cases and giving us significant insight into the device's design changes. Details about the Pixel 9a have been trickling out, from its internal features to stylish wallpapers, but this latest information centered around its cases highlights an important design shift. The revealed cases boast a significant alteration compared to their predecessor, the Pixel 9.
The Pixel 9a case distinctly omits the raised camera area featured in the Pixel 9's design. This adjustment is confirmed by earlier leaked renders, indicating a fresh aesthetic approach for Google's mid-range offering.
The new design is evident in the leaked images, making it clear that the 9a case has been simplified in this aspect.

These cases feature a soft silicone exterior, promoting a comfortable grip and reasonable protection against everyday wear and tear. Additionally, the interior is lined with microfiber material designed to prevent scratches, showcasing that Google is placing a high priority on both design and functionality. The exterior displays the recognizable "G" logo, while the word "Pixel" is subtly integrated within the case.

Expected to be available in at least four colors reflecting the Pixel 9a's selection, these cases are anticipated to come in shades referred to as Peony (pink), Obsidian (black), Iris (purple), and Porcelain (white)—though official color names may vary upon release.
Official cases for the Pixel 8a are priced at approximately $30 on Google’s website, setting a reasonable expectation for the Pixel 9a cases to lie within a similar price range. Reports suggest the Pixel 9a may officially launch in March, with pre-orders possibly commencing around March 19th. This timeline suggests that we don’t have long to wait to see if these leaks are accurate, as well as to experience the new offerings from Google firsthand.
Personally, if these leaks are confirmed, I will be disappointed to see the distinct Pixel camera bar design vanish from the mid-range line and hope this isn't a trend signaling further design changes in future Pixel models.
