New Camera Specifications Leaked for the Upcoming vivo X200 Ultra, Introducing a Unique Design Approach

Source: Date:

The upcoming vivo X200 Ultra, set to launch as the flagship camera phone for 2025, is generating excitement as it prepares to take on competitors like Xiaomi's 15 Ultra and Oppo's Find X8 Ultra. Recently, well-known leaker Digital Chat Station shared details regarding the camera system of the X200 Ultra in a now-deleted post on Weibo.

According to the leaked information, the device will feature a robust camera arrangement comprising a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a formidable 200 MP periscope telephoto camera. Notably, both the main and ultrawide cameras will utilize sensors of 1/1.28" size, while the telephoto camera will sport a larger 1/1.4" type sensor. A peculiar aspect of this design is that the prototypes displayed the ultrawide camera labeled at 1x in the viewfinder, compared to the main camera being referenced at 1.5x.

This strategy could redefine how camera specifications are perceived, potentially setting a new industry standard if adopted widely. However, since it deviates from the conventional labeling—where the main camera usually aligns with the 1x standard—its acceptance remains to be seen. Innovative or not, the camera system is certainly raising eyebrows.

In addition to its camera system, the X200 Ultra will likely feature a 6.8-inch "2K" LTPO OLED display with micro-curved edges and minimal bezels, complemented by a circular camera island design.

It's worth noting that the original post by Digital Chat Station was edited to remove this information, which suggests that it may have been released prematurely or may contain inaccuracies. The leaker, however, had previously asserted that he personally handled a prototype of the X200 Ultra, making the information more credible—but uncertainty still lingers in the air.

The X200 Ultra is expected to make its debut around March or April of next year, although it appears it will be confined to the Chinese market, with no official international availability planned.
