Oppo is set to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Find N5, in just a few weeks, and it is anticipated to make a global entrance as the OnePlus Open 2. Recent leaks shed light on the impressive dimensions of this upcoming device.
As per a tipster on X, the Find N5 (and OnePlus Open 2) will measure only 4.2mm in thickness when unfolded. For comparison, the current slimmest traditional book-type foldable, the Honor Magic V3, has a thickness of 4.35mm when unfolded; however, it should be noted that the Huawei Mate XT reaches an extraordinary 3.6mm but features a double fold, making it less of a direct competitor.
This means that the Find N5 / OnePlus Open 2 is on track to become the slimmest bi-fold foldable device available. Yet, will this sleekness propel foldables into the mainstream? Likely not, unless pricing sees a significant reduction compared to its predecessors. Nevertheless, we are entering an era where these foldable devices can rival the thickness of standard smartphones when closed, which is impressive and commendable.
The upcoming Find N5 / Open 2 is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite version, featuring just seven CPU cores. Additionally, it’s confirmed to support 50W wireless charging and boasts impressive water resistance ratings of IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9.
