Google Announces Resolution for Back Gesture Glitch on Older Pixel Devices

Source: Date:

In October, Google launched Android 15 for its Pixel smartphones, bringing an array of new features along with some unexpected bugs. One issue that quickly gained attention was a malfunction with the back gesture, particularly when users attempted to perform an inward swipe from the right side, which often failed to register.

Fortunately, Google has now marked the issue as resolved on the Issue Tracker. A company representative confirmed that a fix is "rolling out in an upcoming release."

The problem was initially identified by a Pixel 8 Pro user, with numerous other users reporting similar problems across different Pixel models. Some reported that the bug affected swipes from both the left and right sides, hindering their ability to navigate back effectively.

Interim solutions, such as using the traditional three-button navigation method, are available. However, many users may find it inconvenient compared to the gesture-based navigation. The final fix is anticipated to be included in the forthcoming monthly update, scheduled for early February.
