Recent reports from Canalys and Counterpoint Research (CR) have revealed contrasting insights into the 2024 smartphone shipment landscape in China. While vivo secured the top spot for the year with a remarkable 17.8% market share, Huawei surged ahead in Q4, claiming the leadership position at 18.1%.
According to CR's data, Huawei finished the year as a strong contender with a 16.3% share, closely followed by Xiaomi at 15.7%. Surprisingly, Xiaomi appeared in CR's rankings but was absent from Canalys' Top 5. Apple secured the fourth position with 15.5%, followed by Honor at 15% and Oppo with 14.3%.

The year ended with notable growth for Huawei, which increased its shipments by 36.4% compared to 2023. Xiaomi also reported growth at 10.2%, while vivo saw a more modest increase of 7%. Conversely, other brands faced declines in shipments, with Apple experiencing the most significant drop at 12.6%, followed by Oppo at 10.4% and Honor at 2.8%.
In terms of Q4 performance, Huawei edged out the competition with 18.1%, followed by Xiaomi at 17.2% and Apple at 17.1%. Vivo trailed closely behind with 16.3%, while Honor and Oppo accounted for 13.6% and 12.5%, respectively.

When comparing Q4 of 2024 to the same period in 2023, Huawei led the growth rate at 15.5%, with vivo following at 8%. Xiaomi's growth was modest at 3.9%. In contrast, Apple faced the steepest decline at 18.2%, followed by Honor at 12.8% and Oppo at 9.3%.
