In light of recent US bans on TikTok and its parent company ByteDance's popular video editing app, CapCut, Meta has swiftly introduced a new tool for creators: Edits. This free video editor aims to cater to the needs of content creators looking for robust editing capabilities.
Currently available for pre-order in the US App Store, the Edits app is set to officially launch next month. Instagram head Adam Mosseri has also indicated that an Android version will be rolled out soon.
Edits is designed for creating vertical videos, allowing users to seamlessly edit and share content across various platforms. When posting on Instagram, users will benefit from live video analytics that provide insights into viewer engagement, thanks to the app's integration with Instagram Reels.
With features that mirror those of CapCut, including green screen effects, video overlays, automated caption generation, and voiceovers, Edits also integrates an AI animation tool to enhance image appeal.
Additionally, creators can tweak camera settings such as resolution, framerate, dynamic range, flash, and zoom for optimal video quality. The app even facilitates collaboration, enabling users to share video drafts with others.
