Asus ROG Phone 9 FE: A Familiar Face in Gaming Smartphones

Source: Date:

Asus appears to be embracing a strategy similar to Samsung's successful "Fan Edition" (FE) line, which aims to provide high-end specifications at more affordable prices. Recent certification documents from Malaysia and Thailand reveal that Asus is developing the ROG Phone 9 FE, set to join the existing lineup of ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro, which are currently available in various markets including the US.

While the name "ROG Phone 9 FE" is confirmed in these documents, specific specifications for this model remain undisclosed, with no leaks to date. However, we can theorize based on the model number: AI2401N. The "AI2401" designation was associated with the ROG Phone 8, which ran on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Given the close resemblance of the FE model's number to that of the ROG Phone 8, it's possible that the FE could be a rebranded version of the ROG Phone 8, reintroduced in 2025 under a name that feels more current.

Of course, this is merely conjecture, and should be taken with a grain of caution. If Asus’ adoption of the FE branding is indeed influenced by Samsung's approach, we could anticipate some reductions in specs compared to the standard ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro, alongside a lower price point. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
