For years, Android device manufacturers have utilized vapor chamber technology to enhance cooling performance for ever-evolving chipsets. Meanwhile, Apple has predominantly relied on traditional heat sinks for thermal management in its iPhones. However, it looks like this approach may shift with the upcoming iPhone 17 series. A recent report out of China indicates that all models in the iPhone 17 lineup, including both Pro and non-Pro variants, will feature vapor chamber technology to improve cooling efficiency.

Vapor chambers are advanced thermal management components filled with a small quantity of liquid, typically de-ionized water. When heat from the chipset causes this liquid to evaporate, the vapor moves throughout the chamber, effectively dissipating heat and maintaining optimal device performance.

This new information challenges earlier claims from reputable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who suggested that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max would incorporate a vapor chamber cooling system.
