Unveiling the Realme 14 Pro+: A Unique Color-Changing Smartphone

The Realme 14 Pro+ has arrived in our office, and we are excited to share the unboxing of this innovative device. Unlike the Chinese version, the global unit does not include the 80W charger, but it comes with a protective case and a USB-A to USB-C cable.

Realme has dubbed the 14 Pro+ as the world's first cold-sensitive color-changing smartphone. Its rear panel features thermochromic pigments reminiscent of those found in sea creatures like jellyfish and octopuses, reacting dynamically to temperature changes.

This unique design allows the pearlescent white and orange rear panel to shift to shades of blue when in contact with cold substances like ice or cold water. Not only is this a fascinating feature, but we also appreciate the overall design of the back panel itself. The camera system boasts three LED lights that enhance low-light photography, ensuring accurate color temperature and professional-level lighting.

Users have the option to let the phone automatically adjust the color temperature or take manual control.

Overall, the Realme 14 Pro+ presents a robust package. It features a large 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1272x2800px resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz, paired with a substantial 6,000mAh battery supporting 80W charging (note that you’ll need to provide your own charging brick). The device is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip with options for 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and it boasts an IP68/IP69 rating, ensuring durability against dust and water.

The camera specifications are equally impressive, including a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 1/4.0-inch sensor, and a 50MP 3x periscope zoom camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor.

Do we really need a flagship phone in 2025 when devices like the Realme 14 Pro+ exist?
