New Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite Chipset Specifications Leaked

A new report originating from China sheds light on Qualcomm's latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Elite, following the company's tradition of introducing "s" variants to its popular Snapdragon series. According to insights shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, this upcoming chipset, designated as Qualcomm SM8735, showcases a similar CPU configuration to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but with notable speed reductions, positioning it for the sub-flagship market instead of premium flagship smartphones. The Snapdragon 8s Elite will feature a robust architecture, comprising one prime Cortex-X4 core operating at 3.21 GHz, complemented by three performance-focused Cortex-A720 cores at 3.01 GHz. Additionally, it includes two efficiency-oriented Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.80 GHz and another pair of efficiency cores at 2.02 GHz. Although it maintains a comparable CPU layout to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the lower clock speeds hint at its intended audience of less expensive, high-performance devices accessible to a broader market. Several brands, including iQOO and Redmi, are reportedly set to introduce devices featuring this new chipset, potentially within the next couple of months, should Qualcomm adhere to its usual release framework.
