Samsung's Exynos Production Outsourcing Attempt to TSMC Fails

Source: Date:
Samsung Foundry has experienced a tumultuous year in 2024, culminating in the decision to abandon Exynos on the Galaxy S25. Reports have emerged suggesting that Samsung sought to outsource Exynos production to TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), but their request was reportedly turned down by TSMC.
While the precise reasons for TSMC's rejection remain unclear, industry insider Jukanlosreve speculates that TSMC may have opted not to collaborate with a direct competitor to safeguard its proprietary technologies. As a result, the upcoming Galaxy S25 models will switch to using the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which may lead to increased pricing for Samsung's latest smartphones due to anticipated price hikes from Qualcomm.
