The Nubia Flip 2 has officially launched, making waves in the foldable smartphone market with its improved cover screen, robust waterproof design, and an upgraded Mediatek chipset. This announcement comes just two months after its unanticipated reveal at TENAA, with Nubia set to kick off sales in Japan next week.
The device retains a 6.9" AMOLED foldable display on the inside, featuring Full HD+ resolution along with a punch hole for a 32 MP front camera. Notably, the fingerprint scanner is positioned on the side, serving as the power button.
In terms of photography, the Flip 2 sports a dual-camera setup on the back, comprising a 50 MP main sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. The newly upgraded cover screen measures 3" and boasts a resolution of 682 x 422 pixels, allowing for quick notifications and basic app navigation, although specific app compatibility for this screen has not been disclosed.
At the core of the Nubia Flip 2 is the Dimensity 7300X chipset, designed for dual-display devices like this foldable phone. It comes with 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM, powered by Android 14. A 4,300 mAh battery supports PD 3.0 charging, allowing users to charge the device from 0 to 100% in just 55 minutes.
Durability is a highlight, as the Flip 2 features an IPX2 rating against water droplets and an IP4X rating protecting it from objects larger than 1 mm.
The smartphone brings a range of artificial intelligence features, including a tailored assistant compatible with local Japanese apps like Line. A notable function is its AI reply feature, designed for instances when the user misplaces their phone or opts not to respond.
Available in Black, White, and Blue, the Nubia Flip 2 is priced at JPY 64,080 (approximately $410) and is set to launch on January 23.
