Samsung has launched a groundbreaking trial of its Galaxy Trade-In Program, allowing mobile users to receive cash value for their old smartphones without the obligation to purchase a new device. Initially available in South Korea and France, this unique initiative, managed by Likewize, promises to provide an easy way for users to monetize their outdated gadgets.
Eligible devices for the program include a variety of popular models, such as the Galaxy S23, S22, S21, and S20 series, as well as the Z Fold and Flip series. However, it's important to note that eligibility may differ depending on the country.
Those interested in the Galaxy Trade-In Program can check it out for South Korea and France. The service is set to begin today and aims to extend to additional markets in the near future, although specific locations have yet to be disclosed by Samsung.
A detailed Korean press release outlined the program's mechanics, which involve assessing the condition of the trade-in devices, categorizing them as Excellent, Good, or Recycle. Customers will receive a financial payout based on their device's grading, with exact amounts available on the Galaxy Trade-In Program pages once they go live.
“We’re excited to launch our brand-new year-round Galaxy Trade-In Program in an effort to enrich the value of Galaxy devices for users and contribute to a circular economy. We believe customers can greatly benefit from the value of their devices in the market and the ability to trade-in safely with the support of secure transactions,” stated Jun Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Galaxy Value Innovation team at Samsung Electronics.
