A Closer Look at the Redmi Watch 5: Review in Progress

Source: Date:

This week marked the global launch of the much-anticipated Redmi Watch 5, and we're diving in with an in-depth review. At first glance, it may resemble its predecessor, but beneath the surface, there are some exciting enhancements.

Our review unit comes with a stylish Lavender Purple silicone strap, and all models feature a robust aluminum alloy frame, giving it a more premium feel compared to some all-plastic alternatives.

The retail package includes standard documentation along with Xiaomi’s proprietary two-pin magnetic charger, which connects via USB-A.

Redmi Watch 5 and Charger Overview

Even with an expanded screen, the Redmi Watch 5 remains lightweight at just 33.5 grams, making it almost unnoticeable on your wrist. Users can interact with the HyperOS interface via screen swipes or utilize the metal crown, ideal for wet hands. Pressing the crown also serves as a handy back button.

The watch offers comprehensive health tracking, including heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and stress management. It also supports over 150 fitness activities, features a built-in GNSS receiver for running, and boasts a 5ATM waterproof rating—perfect for swimming.

With dual microphones and a built-in speaker, users can make and receive phone calls directly from the Watch 5. While it vibrates for notifications, replying to messages is currently unavailable, as Xiaomi has yet to offer eSIM options outside of China.

Xiaomi claims the Watch 5 can achieve up to 24 days of battery life with its 550mAh battery. We will thoroughly evaluate this during our complete review, along with our standard testing procedures, so stay tuned for more insights.
