Amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, Apple is stepping up to assist its Apple Card users impacted by the crisis. Customers enrolled in the program are allowed to skip their payment for the month of enrollment without accruing interest during that time. Following this grace period, standard purchase APR will apply. To ensure continued good standing, accounts must be free from late payments and negative marks. Scheduled payments will proceed as usual unless canceled by the user through Apple Wallet, online, or with an Apple Card Specialist. The wildfires, which began on January 7, have wreaked havoc, destroying numerous structures and mandating evacuations.
In light of the tragic consequences the fires have inflicted on the community, Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed heartfelt gratitude for the efforts of fire crews and first responders and confirmed that Apple will contribute to recovery efforts for the affected individuals.
“The devastation caused by the fires in Los Angeles is heartbreaking. Thank you to the incredible firefighters, first responders, and all those assisting for your heroic efforts. Apple will be donating to support the victims and recovery efforts on the ground,” he tweeted.
