OnePlus 13R Launches with Advanced Camera Features and Enhanced Performance

OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 13R, marking a significant upgrade in both specifications and features. Priced at $600/€750 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, the 13R is designed to cater to photography enthusiasts and tech aficionados alike.

One of the standout features of the OnePlus 13R is its impressive camera system. The device sports a 50MP main camera equipped with a Sony LYT-700 sensor (1/1.56”, 1.0µm), promising enhanced image quality compared to the IMX890 found in its predecessor, the OnePlus 12R. This main camera includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and supports 4K video recording at 60fps.

New to the 13R is a 50MP telephoto camera featuring a Samsung JN5 sensor (1/2.75”). With an f/2.0 lens and a focal length of 47mm, this camera delivers 2x optical zoom and can achieve 4x zoom without losing image quality, though it lacks OIS.

Additionally, the smartphone includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera (112°) and a 16MP fixed-focus selfie camera (1/3.09”, 1.0µm), rounding out a robust imaging setup.

Another notable update is the implementation of OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15, which brings improvements in software support, offering 4 years of OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches. However, OnePlus still trails behind competitors like Samsung and Apple in this regard.

The battery capacity has also seen an increase, now at 6,000mAh, with 80W SuperVOOC charging that can fully charge the device in 52 minutes (54 minutes in North America). While this is slightly slower than the 100W charging available in the 12R, it maintains a balance between performance and battery life, with the phone remaining lightweight at 206g and slightly slimmer than its predecessor.

IP65 Water Resistance Rating

With an improved IP65 rating, the OnePlus 13R offers better protection against water jets and supports Aqua Touch 2.0 technology, allowing the device to function even when wet. The new Glove Mode also enhances usability in colder climates by detecting touches through thick gloves.

Constructed with an aluminum chassis, the OnePlus 13R is available in two elegant colors: Astral Trail and Nebula Noir. The display remains a standout feature, with a 6.78” LTPO OLED panel offering a refresh rate of 1-120Hz, HDR10+, Dolby Vision support, and peak brightness levels reaching up to 4,500 nits.

Additional features of the OnePlus 13R include dual nano-SIM support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC capabilities. However, it’s worth noting that the USB-C port remains limited to USB 2.0 data speeds, which may disappoint some users. Fortunately, the beloved Alert Slider is still part of the design.

The OnePlus 13R is now available for pre-order, offering eager fans an enticing blend of power, performance, and advanced camera capabilities.
