Telegram Introduces Innovative Third-Party Verification System to Enhance User Trust

Source: Date:

In a bid to combat scams and misinformation, Telegram has rolled out a groundbreaking third-party verification system. This new feature, designed to elevate the level of trust on the platform, allows verified individuals or organizations to authenticate other users, thereby setting a precedent for social media verification processes. To participate in this initiative, potential verifiers must first possess an official bot that has been vetted by Telegram. Once approved, they can apply for the status of third-party verifier.

Each verified individual or organization will be distinguished by a unique icon—a simple, solid color—that appears next to the names of the users they have verified. This visual cue aims to foster authenticity and reliability within the Telegram community.

Additionally, this update brings a host of new features, including enhanced search filters for sorting results in private chats, group chats, and channels. Users will also enjoy the introduction of custom emojis for folder names, reactions for service messages, and the option to upgrade gifts into NFTs, enriching the user experience.

Telegram has recently announced its profitability, a milestone achieved through diverse monetization strategies such as Premium subscriptions, advertising, and the introduction of Telegram Stars. The new third-party verification system is a standout feature of this update, showcasing Telegram's commitment to enhancing user safety and trust—an innovative approach not commonly seen in other messaging platforms.
