HMD has introduced its latest budget smartphone, the Key, designed for users seeking a straightforward device without the frills. This entry-level phone features a 6.52-inch LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 576x1,280 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, offering a peak brightness of 460 nits. Under the hood, it is powered by the Unisoc 9832E chipset, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded as needed. The Key is equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging, ensuring reliable battery life for everyday tasks.
The device runs on Android 14 Go, optimized for its limited RAM, and comes with a commitment for two years of quarterly security updates. However, additional software updates beyond that are not promised.

In terms of cameras, the smartphone sports an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera, along with standard features such as Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and it boasts an IP52 rating for dust and splash resistance. The Key is available in two colors: Midnight Black and Icy Blue. Its dimensions are 166.4 x 76.9 x 8.95 mm, and it weighs 185.4 grams.
With these specifications, the HMD Key is offered at a surprisingly low price, launching at just £59 in the UK. It is expected to make its way to other markets shortly, with Australia and New Zealand among the first to receive it.
