In 2024, Honor has made substantial strides in solidifying its status as a prominent player in the global Android market. Renowned for its impressive foldable devices, Honor has also garnered attention with its flagship Magic6 and midrange number series, both of which have distinguished themselves from competitors. The brand's smartphone innovation is complemented by a range of high-quality tablets and laptops, such as the MagicBook Art 14, which has emerged as a favorite this year. However, like any rising star in the tech industry, Honor faced its share of challenges. Here, we highlight both the standout achievements and the shortcomings in Honor's 2024 lineup.
Highlight: Magic V3
The Magic V3 has been hailed as the top foldable device of 2024, showcasing Honor's engineering capabilities.
This sleek device features an ultra-thin profile of just 4.4mm when unfolded and weighs only 226 grams. With an 8-inch form factor, it occupies a similar space in your pocket as flagship models like the iPhone Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy Ultra. The V3 impresses not only with its design but also with a well-equipped specification list, including a 6.43-inch cover screen, a stunning 7.92-inch main display compatible with stylus input, the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and a competitive camera array—all running on effective software with a commendable battery life.
Highlight: Magic6 Pro
Launching as one of the first high-end Android smartphones of the year, the Magic6 Pro has made a significant impact.
Despite facing some minor issues with video recording and software performance, it remains a strong contender in the flagship market. Anticipation is building for the Magic7 Pro's eventual global release as well.
Highlight: MagicBook Art 14
Among the standout laptops this year is the MagicBook Art 14, which is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Weighing just 980 grams, its innovative tuck-away camera module offers a compelling solution for privacy-conscious users. The device features a quality titanium keyboard and a large glass trackpad that enhance user experience, while the 60Wh battery is designed to support a full day of productivity. We are also excited about the upcoming review of the Snapdragon X Elite version.
Setback: Limited International Accessibility
Despite launching many impressive devices, Honor continues to restrict some models to the Chinese market.
Devices such as the
Honor Magic6, Magic V Flip, and X50 GT have not reached audiences outside of China. Additionally, the timing for the global debut of the Magic7 series remains unclear, leaving many interested customers without access.
Setback: MagicOS Limitations
MagicOS, while supported by Honor, is not favored compared to other Android skins available.
The design choices, including its Magic Capsule cutout and control center resembling iOS features, illustrate how Honor may be limiting its capable hardware by opting for a less intuitive software experience.

The software's latest iteration is certainly under scrutiny.
Setback: Lack of a Premium Smartwatch
With Honor offering some of the best smartphones and foldable devices, it's puzzling that they haven't invested in a top-tier smartwatch yet.
The introduction of a
premium WearOS smartwatch featuring Porsche Design aesthetics would make sense, as Honor has already developed a comprehensive array of premium tech products. Leveraging their expertise from past collaborations could yield a standout device capable of revitalizing the relatively stagnant WearOS market.
