One UI 7 Introduces System-Wide HDR Control with New Super HDR Toggle

Source: Date:

Samsung has rolled out the second beta of its One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series, introducing users to an exciting new feature: a system-level HDR content toggle. This enhancement is set to offer greater control over display settings, allowing users to manage their viewing experience more effectively.

The newly added Super HDR toggle, found in the Advanced Features section of the Settings app, allows users to disable automatic HDR adjustments. When turned off, the feature prevents the display from showcasing the full range of colors and contrasts associated with HDR content, instead maintaining consistent screen brightness across all applications.

Interestingly, Samsung's Super HDR leverage's Google Ultra HDR format, which means that turning off the Super HDR feature will also have an effect on HDR content from third-party apps and media captured on other Android devices, providing more versatility for users beyond the Samsung ecosystem.

The One UI 7 beta is currently available for the Galaxy S24, with a broader rollout planned for other devices in 2025.
