Samsung is set to improve how its Galaxy phones handle HDR photography with the upcoming release of For those unfamiliar, HDR, or High Dynamic Range, enhances photos by capturing a broader spectrum of light and shadow. This results in more detailed and vivid images, but to fully appreciate HDR, you need a compatible display with the right brightness capabilities.
One of the challenges users face is that viewing HDR images can sometimes cause the screen to emit an intense brightness, which can be quite uncomfortable, especially in low-light settings. Previously, many sought ways to mitigate this effect on their phones. With the introduction of One UI 7, Samsung addresses these concerns with a refined feature. One UI 7 includes a new option called "Super HDR," which allows users to automatically adjust their device's display settings, delivering true-to-life colors and contrasts while viewing HDR content. If turned off, the brightness will be toned down while still displaying HDR images. While a similar feature existed in previous versions, One UI 7 expands this capability to work system-wide—not just within the Samsung Gallery. Additionally, the location of the toggle has been reorganized for better accessibility within the Settings menu. This enhancement is a notable improvement for users looking for greater control over their photo experience.
