Today, MediaTek took the wraps off its latest innovation: the Dimensity 8400 chipset. This groundbreaking all big core CPU marks a significant development in the upper-midrange Android market, building on the success of the Dimensity 9300 introduced last year.

Hot on the heels of this announcement, Xiaomi's Redmi brand proudly confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 4 will be the inaugural smartphone to harness the power of this new SoC, specifically leveraging the Dimensity 8400-Ultra version that Xiaomi customarily brands with an "Ultra" suffix.

Set for its debut in early January of 2025, the Redmi Turbo 4 is already generating buzz with blind pre-reservations starting today. Initially launching in China, the device is expected to be rebranded for international markets, potentially as the Poco F7 or Poco X7 Pro, with speculation surrounding the final name persisting.

The Dimensity 8400's all big core architecture is anticipated to challenge the longstanding dominance of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, heralding a new era in upper-midrange smartphone performance.
