Samsung is gearing up for its next rugged smartphone release with the Galaxy XCover8 Pro, as the battery has recently received certification from Safety Korea. This marks a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Galaxy XCover7, known for its robust removable battery design and durability.

The new battery, designated as EB-BG766GBY, boasts a rated capacity of 4,265mAh and a typical capacity of 4,350mAh, equating to a total of 16.88Wh. This is a noticeable improvement over the XCover7's 4,050mAh battery (15.59Wh). The battery will be produced by Amperex Technology Limited (ATL).

The previous model, the XCover Pro, was last released in 2022 and featured notable enhancements such as a 120Hz display, an ultra-wide camera, a superior selfie camera, and a built-in fingerprint sensor, setting a high bar for upgrades in the upcoming XCover8 Pro.

While Samsung has yet to announce the official launch date for the Galaxy XCover8 Pro, trends from previous releases suggest that an unveiling could happen in the first half of 2025, following the release timeline of the XCover6 Pro in June 2022 and the XCover7 in January 2024.
