WhatsApp is set to enhance user interaction by introducing a chat message translation feature, which has been in development since July, along with a new capability to translate channel updates into various languages. This feature was detected in the latest beta version, 2.24.26.9, for Android users, allowing them to enable translation for channel updates and chat messages. To prioritize user security, translations will occur directly on user devices, and individuals will need to download language packs for optimal accuracy. Initially, WhatsApp will support multiple languages for this service.
In addition to translation, WhatsApp has rolled out new calling functionalities designed for both mobile and desktop platforms. Users now have the option to select particular participants from group chats when making calls and can choose from ten animated effects during video calls. The desktop version has been revamped to simplify the processes of starting calls, creating call links, and dialing directly. WhatsApp also guarantees higher resolution video for both one-on-one and group video calls.
