Oppo Enco X4 hands-on: flagship noise-cancelling earbuds make global debut

Oppo is bringing its latest flagship true-wireless earbuds to international buyers. The new Enco X4 arrives beside the Oppo Find X10 series, promising stronger active noise cancellation, refined controls, and long battery life for frequent travellers and daily commuters.

Inside the retail box, Oppo includes the Enco X4 earbuds housed in their charging case, along with small, medium, and large silicone eartips so users can find a secure fit.

The Enco X4 continues Oppo’s collaboration with Dynaudio, with the audio specialist’s branding appearing on the case. Rather than a plain matte finish, the case uses a smooth pearlescent plastic shell, while a subtle silver line around the top and bottom gives it a more polished look.

A refined charging case

Charging can be done over USB-C or wirelessly. A small pairing button is also included, though most users may not need it because the earbuds support fast pairing, with a prompt appearing on compatible phones, tablets, and laptops.

Minimal controls and clean styling

The earbuds themselves use an in-ear design with short stems. Oppo equips them with a dual-driver setup made up of an 11mm woofer and a 6mm tweeter. This fourth-generation driver arrangement is supported by dual DACs for improved audio handling.

Control is handled through squeeze gestures on the stems. These can be used for play/pause functions and switching between active noise cancellation and transparency mode. Oppo claims the ANC performance is 200% better than the X3s, aided by a new 6nm NPU that adjusts to surrounding noise.

For calls, each earbud carries four microphones: three standard silicon microphones and one bone-conduction voice pickup unit. AI noise reduction is also included, and the earbuds carry an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. Conversation awareness is another useful feature, automatically pausing music and reducing ANC when the wearer begins speaking.

Battery life is one of the Enco X4’s stronger points, with up to 53 hours quoted. In early use during several flights, the earbuds felt comfortable, remained secure, and showed roughly half charge remaining after a five-hour journey.

Noise cancellation also performed well in real-world conditions, particularly on flights, where low-frequency cabin noise is most noticeable.

Comfortable wear and practical controls

The Oppo Enco X4 has been on sale in China since September and is now rolling out to the UK, India, and continental Europe. Colour options include Aurora Violet and Glacier White. Launch pricing is slightly discounted: £189 in the UK with a 13% reduction, and €199 in the EU with a 9% discount plus an extra €20 voucher at checkout.
