vivo X500 Ultra may launch globally as new model numbers surface

Vivo’s upcoming X500 Ultra may not stay exclusive to China for long. After a company executive hinted that the device will be introduced in China around March or April of next year, new IMEI listings suggest the flagship could also reach international markets.

The global version of the X500 Ultra has reportedly appeared in an IMEI database in Türkiye under model number V2660. A separate listing for model J2613 also points to a Jovi X500 Ultra. Jovi is the branding Vivo uses for smartphones in Brazil, indicating that the device may be sold there under that name.

Such a move would follow the pattern set by the X300 Ultra, which became Vivo’s first Ultra model to launch outside China. That phone debuted in China on March 30, began rolling out globally in April, and later reached Brazil as the Jovi X300 Ultra in August.

While Vivo has not confirmed the full schedule for the X500 Ultra, the alleged global model numbers suggest the international launch may not lag far behind the Chinese announcement.

Rumored specifications

Recent leaks claim the X500 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform. The phone is also said to feature a flat 6.85-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED panel supplied by BOE, with a 144Hz refresh rate and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Camera hardware could be one of the biggest upgrades. The device’s 200MP periscope telephoto camera is reportedly being tested with a larger 1/1.2-inch sensor, compared with the 1/1.4-inch sensor used on the predecessor. The 35mm main camera may move to a 50MP sensor with better stabilization.

Battery capacity is rumored to fall between 7,000mAh and 8,000mAh, a notable increase from the 6,600mAh cell found in the X300 Ultra. Exact timing for the global release remains unclear, but based on the previous Ultra rollout, buyers outside China may not have to wait long after the initial launch.
