vivo X500 Ultra Telephoto Camera Rumored to Get Larger 200MP Sensor

Source: Date:

vivo’s upcoming X500 Ultra is already drawing attention as a potential photography flagship, and a new rumor points to a meaningful upgrade for its telephoto camera. If the latest claim is accurate, the company is preparing a larger zoom sensor that could make low-light telephoto shots noticeably clearer and more detailed.

Tipster Digital Chat Station reports that an engineering sample of the vivo X500 Ultra is currently testing a 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.2-inch sensor. Earlier information said vivo was evaluating three different 200MP telephoto sensors, so this may indicate that a final hardware direction has been chosen.

The report also suggests vivo has managed to fit the larger sensor inside the phone without consuming excessive internal space. That would be an important step forward, since bigger camera modules often create challenges for thickness, weight, and battery placement.

Compared with the vivo X300 Ultra, which uses a 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, the X500 Ultra’s rumored 1/1.2-inch sensor should capture more light. In practical terms, this could improve zoom sharpness, color, and exposure, especially in dim environments.

Other recent rumors about the vivo X500 Ultra include the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a battery capacity of roughly 8,000mAh, and a 6.85-inch LTPO AMOLED display supplied by BOE. The phone is expected to launch between March and April of next year.
