vivo Buds Ultra arrive in Europe with dual-driver sound and 60dB ANC

Introduction: vivo is expanding its European audio lineup with the launch of the vivo Buds Ultra. Appearing to be the global version of the TWS 5 Pro introduced in China earlier this year, the new earbuds combine a dual-driver acoustic design, powerful active noise cancellation, high-resolution audio support, and long battery life for premium true wireless users.

Earlier this year, vivo introduced the TWS 5 Pro in China alongside the X Fold6. Now, the same earbuds are reaching Europe under a new identity: the vivo Buds Ultra. The model features a hybrid acoustic setup that pairs an ultra-compact balanced armature, co-developed with Knowles, with vivo’s own dual-fold dynamic driver. The balanced armature is positioned at the center of the dynamic driver’s diaphragm, creating a coaxial layout designed to align the acoustic centers of bass and treble.

According to vivo, this structure helps produce a more balanced sound profile. A dedicated acoustic tube is also used to physically separate high and low frequencies. The earbuds support a broad 16Hz to 60kHz frequency response and include an independent Hi-Fi DAC chip with a claimed dynamic range of 113dB. LDAC support is included as well, enabling wireless audio transmission at up to 990kbps on compatible devices.

For noise cancellation, the vivo Buds Ultra use four microphones, including two digital and two analog units, as part of the company’s Intelligent Noise Cancellation 2.0 system. vivo claims the earbuds can deliver up to 60dB of noise reduction, with an average reduction of 28dB across a 5,500Hz bandwidth. There is also an Adaptive mode that automatically adjusts between noise cancellation and transparency, along with optimized settings for airplanes, subways, and buses.

Call quality is supported by three microphones and a bone conduction sensor. vivo says this setup can reduce wind noise by up to 99%, which should help improve voice clarity during calls in outdoor or noisy environments.

Battery performance is another key feature. Each earbud can last up to 11 hours with ANC turned off, while the charging case extends total use to around 50 hours. Fast charging is supported, with five minutes of charging delivering approximately two hours of music playback. The case also supports wireless charging. The earbuds themselves carry an IP54 rating for dust and sweat resistance, but the case is not rated.

The Buds Ultra can connect to up to three devices at the same time. Control is handled through pressure-sensitive areas on the earbuds, which support presses and swipes. Additional features include spatial audio with Theater, Concert Hall, Studio, and Concert modes, a 10-band equalizer, personalized hearing profiles, remote camera control, and a find-my-earbuds option.

Some of these functions are built into compatible vivo smartphones, while users with other Android devices can manage the earbuds through the vEarphones app.

The vivo Buds Ultra are available in Cosmic Black and Glacier White. They are priced at €199, but vivo is currently offering them at a discounted price of €169 through its official online stores in Spain and Portugal.
