Coolpad Launches Cool X Wide with 16:10 Widescreen Display and 50MP Camera

Coolpad has stepped back into the spotlight with the announcement of the Cool X Wide, a smartphone built around an unusually wide display format. With its broader-than-average screen and budget-focused hardware, the new model appears aimed at users who want a more cinematic, landscape-friendly viewing experience without stepping into flagship pricing territory.

The Coolpad Cool X Wide is equipped with a 6.38-inch LCD screen that features HD resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a distinctive 16:10 aspect ratio. This wider panel makes the phone feel visually different from most mainstream handsets, especially for reading, browsing, and multimedia viewing.

Inside, the device is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. Coolpad pairs the processor with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, giving the phone a solid mid-range foundation for everyday tasks.

On the camera front, the Cool X Wide features a 50MP primary rear camera along with a secondary macro sensor. The company has not yet shared full details about the selfie camera, leaving that part of the phone’s camera setup still unknown.

The smartphone is backed by a 4,600mAh battery and includes dual SIM support as well as a microSD card slot for expanded storage. It also runs Android 16 out of the box.

Coolpad has already listed the Cool X Wide on JD.com, where pre-orders are currently open. However, pricing, launch availability, and several remaining specifications have not yet been confirmed.
