Huawei appears to be preparing the next-generation Mate X8 foldable, and a new rumor from China suggests the device could arrive as soon as next month. The upcoming phone is expected to build on the Mate X7 with larger displays, upgraded silicon, and a significantly bigger battery.

According to the report, the Mate X8 will feature a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.15-inch inner folding screen. The camera setup is rumored to include a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and variable aperture, along with a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. Huawei is also said to be equipping the device with a battery capacity of at least 6,000mAh.

The leak claims that different versions of the Mate X8 will be powered by the Kirin 9050 and Kirin 9050 Pro chipsets. Additionally, the phone may offer a Privacy Display feature similar to the one introduced on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year. It is still unclear whether the privacy feature will work on both the inner and outer displays or only one of them.

If accurate, these specifications suggest the Mate X8 will bring modest but meaningful upgrades over the Mate X7, including larger screens, newer processors, a bigger battery, and added display functionality. More details are expected to surface as the rumored launch window approaches.
