Apple Says iPhone Duo Walk-In Stock Will Be Tight on Launch Day

Source: Date:

Apple’s iPhone Duo is preparing for its first day in stores on Friday, October 23, but buyers hoping to skip the preorder process may face disappointment. In a new statement, the company said walk-in availability will be limited and likely to disappear quickly after doors open, citing exceptionally strong preorder demand.

Apple said a small amount of launch-day inventory for in-person shoppers will be offered in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, and the UK. Some locations in Italy will also receive stock, though the company did not identify which stores. In Macao, walk-in sales will be restricted to launch day itself, with supplies also expected to be constrained.

The rules are tougher in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE. Customers in those markets will not be able to simply walk into an Apple Store and buy the iPhone Duo on launch day; they must first secure a pickup appointment through Apple’s online store. At the time of writing, the store was directing shoppers to return on Saturday, October 24, leaving it uncertain whether launch-day reservations would be available at all.

Apple uses these restrictions to reduce crowding and discourage resellers, which is also why it is limiting each buyer to two iPhone Duo units. For customers who already placed a preorder, the outlook has improved: many delivery estimates that had slipped to January have since moved earlier.

For those needing a quick reminder of what the device offers, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch foldable LTPO OLED display with a 1878x2670 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, plus a 5.4-inch LTPO OLED cover screen at 1398x2034 and 120Hz. It runs on the A20 Pro chipset, includes 12GB of RAM, and offers up to 2TB of storage. Camera hardware includes a 48MP main camera with sensor-shift OIS, a 48MP ultrawide camera, a 12MP selfie camera on the cover display, and a 4MP under-display camera on the inner panel. The phone packs a 4,883mAh battery, supports 25W MagSafe/Qi2 wireless charging, carries an IP68 rating, and launches with iOS 27.1. Prices start at $1,999, €2,299 in Germany, and £1,999 in the UK.
