Sony Xperia 1 VII begins Android 17 rollout with refreshed OS features

Sony is continuing its Android 17 rollout, and the Xperia 1 VII is now joining the Xperia 1 VIII in receiving Google’s latest mobile operating system. The update marks another step in Sony’s effort to bring its flagship lineup up to date with the newest software experience.

According to several reports from users on Reddit, the Android 17 update is arriving on the Sony Xperia 1 VII (MK7) with firmware version 71.2.A.2.35. The rollout currently appears to be focused on Europe, but it is expected to widen to more regions in the coming days.

The update is said to be around 1.1GB in size and includes many of the same core features seen on the Xperia 1 VIII’s Android 17 release. These include a redesigned quick settings panel, new wallpaper and clock options, custom icon shapes, and other visual and usability enhancements. More details are available in Sony’s official Android 17 changelog.
