In a bold move to expand its laptop offerings, Samsung is set to enter the burgeoning market of Android-powered laptops branded as Googlebooks. This exciting development comes as Google has officially introduced Googlebooks, with confirmed partnerships from major manufacturers like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Now, Samsung's upcoming model, identified by its code name Samsung XE940XSA, aims to carve its niche within this new category.
While the exact name for Samsung's device remains under wraps, speculation suggests it could be termed the "Galaxy Googlebook," although that name does have its challenges. Geekbench 7.1.0 has uncovered important details about the device, most notably its advanced Snapdragon X Elite chipset, codenamed "Hamoa." Although it might be disappointing to some that this model will not use a Snapdragon X2 series chip, it aligns with what other manufacturers like Dell and HP are doing, since they too have opted for the Snapdragon X Elite.
Samsung Googlebook (XE940XSA) Performance Insights from Geekbench 7.1.0
This upcoming Googlebook will boast 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, aligning with the specifications seen across all current models in the lineup. Although there's no official word on the storage configuration just yet, Geekbench has confirmed the presence of 16GB of RAM for Samsung's variant. Unlike Chromebooks, this laptop will run on Android 17, suggesting a distinct operating experience possibly enhanced by One UI customizations, although specific details on those customizations are still awaited.
Current Googlebook Models from Various Brands
The Snapdragon X Elite is manufactured on a 4nm process and is equipped with 12 Oryon cores and an Adreno X1-85 GPU. Based on benchmark findings, it’s likely to incorporate the X1E-80-100 chip, identical to those found in Dell and HP's iterations of Googlebooks.
Only a year ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy Book4 Edge, which utilized X Elite chips running Windows 11. More recently, the company's Galaxy Book6 Edge debuted with a newer Snapdragon X2 Elite chip, the X2E-88-100. This progression showcases Samsung's commitment to developing powerful, innovative laptop solutions for diverse usage scenarios.
